Ethiopian coffees are known around the world for their extraordinary fruit-forward character, and this Ethiopian Sidama Ayla is a beautiful example of why. Roasted to a solid medium roast, it brings out the coffee's remarkable sweetness and vibrant fruit notes while creating a smooth, well-balanced cup.

The first thing you'll notice is the bold, juicy blackberry flavor. It is the dominant note in this coffee, followed by an amazing honey-like sweetness that gives the cup a rich, smooth character. Then, quietly in the background, there is something unexpected—a subtle hint of banana that adds another layer to this already fascinating coffee.

One thing that particularly impressed us about this coffee is its exceptionally smooth character and very low perceived acidity. While Ethiopian coffees can sometimes be known for bright, lively acidity, this one drinks remarkably smooth. To our taste, there is almost no noticeable acidity at all, making it an excellent choice for someone who loves the distinctive fruit character of Ethiopian coffee but prefers a gentler, smoother cup.

We chose a medium roast for this coffee because that's where we believe its character truly shines. The roast preserves the beautiful fruit and natural sweetness that make Ethiopian coffees so special while developing enough body and balance to create a deeply satisfying cup—without taking it into the darker roast flavors that would hide what makes this coffee unique.

Grown in Ethiopia's renowned Sidama region, this coffee comes from one of the world's most celebrated coffee-producing areas. Ethiopia is widely regarded as the birthplace of coffee, where coffee-growing traditions have been passed down through generations. Much of Ethiopia's coffee is still grown by smallholder farmers, whose knowledge of the land and generations of experience help produce some of the most distinctive coffees in the world.
